Greetings from Blended Reality! We hope that you are all staying safe and healthy during this time. Even though we’ve all gone to working remotely from home, we’re still innovating. Many of us are too familiar with the software Zoom at this point, and since this is a platform we’ll be working with for a quite a while, we decided to hold a hackathon tailored to Zoom. Together, led by Justin Berry, the group created a live music piece uses household objects they found near them. Playing a rhythm through Zoom, the team starting improvising sounds to create one piece. Visually, they decided to use Zoom to key out their own faces, symbolizing becoming part of the virtual space that they were in and replacing a physical presence with a virtual one. While just a start, it allowed the team to flex their creative side once again as we learn how to keep up our productivity and creativity during these unusual times.
